Battery operated flow meter

With many different applications in today's market it is very important for flow meter manufacturers to offer a battery operated flow meter. The main reason that they should offer a battery operated flow meter is that many job sites and applications will not have power available. Making it near impossible to install a low or high voltage meter, this only leaves one option for operators and that is to install a battery operated flow meter. Although there are many manufactures that do offer a battery operated flow meter they are generally constructed in metal making them incompatible with most commodity chemicals. Truflo has just announced that they will now offer a battery operated flow meter, in thermoplastic.

Even the manufacturers that do offer a thermoplastic battery operated flow meter will produce it for the irrigation or water meter. Now having a battery operated flow meter available in thermoplastic designed for industrial applications, operators have never been more excited. They now have the ability to remotely monitor chemical flow with an all plastic battery operated flow meter. Not only is the TKB series Truflo battery operated flow meter thermoplastic but it also features a true union design body. True union design allows the operator to remove the battery operated flow meter from the piping system without having to cut pipe and re-glue the unit back into the system. This leads to easy installations, cost savings, and a much safer thermoplastic system. OEM's especially like the true union design for easy change out or maintenance on the battery operated flow meter.

One difficult application that Truflo had assisted with providing a battery operated flow meter was when a chemical plant was looking to install many flow meter reference points. The issue was that they did not have the budget to install twenty battery operated flow meters. With the Truflo TKB series battery operated flow meter the battery operated flow meter is offered in a three-piece design making it possible to install all twenty units. They did this by installing the body and paddle assembly in each desired reference point.

The plant manager purchased one battery powered display and when it was time to check the reference point, he would simply pop it on top of the paddle assembly and record the flow rate and then move on to the next reference point. This was possible with the TKB series battery operated flow meter because the paddle assembly is not connected to the display. The paddle assembly on the TKB battery operated flow meter will hold back full flow and pressure based on the manufacturers specification allowing the operator to run his process and walk around with the display when required. The TKB series battery operated flow meter also features many different body materials such as PVC, PP, PVDF and 316SS. The paddle assembly which consists of an ETFE paddle and ceramic rotor pin and bearings allows the operator to utilize the battery operated flow meter on many different applications in the same facility which is why this was a possibility.
